Dinner in the Library
This lesson plan was created to help returning students learn how to start their research projects and how search for an article. Returning students may not be familiar with the online catalog searching process and have limited time for instruction as they are often balancing school, work and home life. Searching for an Article (part of ‘Dinner in the Library’ series) details how to search with Google Scholar, Scopus and Pratt’s Catalog in order to scaffold knowledge from every day searching.
Educanon
This lesson was for fellow students on how to work with and integrate Educanon into lessons with flipped or blended classes. Educanon allows educators to add questions and pauses to videos they create or find in order to make a passive learning experience into an interactive learning experience.
Book Club
These are lesson plans I developed while working for NYPL as an Adult Services Outreach Assistant. I ran a weekly ‘Book Club’ on Rikers. It was initially planned as a traditional book club for patrons, we revised the programming to reflect the needs and engagement of our participants. That meant including more articles and videos to dig into the topic of the day with book recommendations for further reading.
I was in charge of planning and finding materials for the lesson, as well as leading two classes a week. Coworkers also facilitated in classes and asked for ‘cheat sheets’ in order to balance understanding the topic and their workload.
Media & Incarceration – Through readings, videos and discussions patrons mediated on the role that media plays in the Judicial System and Incarceration

Meditation – With the use of readings, infographics and videos patrons learned about what the brain needs in order to repair itself. Patrons also participated in a guided mediatation.
